I do not mean "see me" as in see my body walk into the store.
Did you SEE ME?

Did you see my heart skip a beat when we made eye-contact?
Did you see my eyes illuminate?
Did you hear my soul cry out?

I bought my items
You rang me up

We didn't acknowledge each other.
Did you see me?

Did we both realize we made a mistake long ago?
I saw you.

Your eyes still an ebony path into your soul
Your hair a lighter shade of black
Your smile just as inviting
Your spirit seemed slightly broken

I wanted to strike up the conversation, but was afraid of where it would go.
I wasn't sure you saw me.
but I saw you...the old you...the one I loved.
