This is a haunting song. It played on a Muzak loop at a place I used to work. There was an absolutely gorgeous girl working there that was always flirting with me. The words of this song reminds me of that time in my life. I was afraid to get too close to her because I was recovering from the most devastating breakup of my life and I simply couldn't take another one. Years later, she looked me up on facebook and told me how much she was in love with me. But her story was like mine. She had just been through a devastating breakup and was afraid to let go and fall in love. She wound up marrying the guy that broke her heart. She said she was no longer in love with him and really couldn't trust him to not cheat on her. They have several kids together, but she says going back to him was the worst decision of her life.

This song was simple and complicated. McCafferty's voice was made for this song. If you have ever been in a relationship you knew was bad for you, but was so good you couldn't leave, you will understand.
