Stuck in Time

I heard the news today
It came years too late
While most are through hurting
Mine just started this morning

I look through Smoke Rings
Like I do time to time,
Where, I'm out of frame
And you’re, stuck in time

My heart jumped when I saw you,
It still does in my mind
I stayed a great distance,
you moved through time

Was your name at times
I increased my distance
So, you could move through time

Your smile, your mannerisms
All burned in my mind
I kept my heart a safe distance
And now you’re stuck in time

Out of my league.
You were happy. I’m fine.
My heart safe from breaking
But you could never be mine

Maybe a date,
A picnic with wine
But, instead, I stayed distant
Now, you’re stuck in time

Struck dumb when around you
Every time
Now I’m stuck at a distance
And you’re stuck in time

If I could go back
And change my young mind
Would I be distant?
Could you have been mine?

Only time and space divide us
Along life’s crazy line
I can change the distance
But I can’t fix the time
